Tim Bazzinett 0 Posted April 4, 2000 Man, try as I might, just cant Det. 5.13 to work. Using the MSDN version of build 2195, and a diamond v770 16 meg TNT2. I installed a clean version of the OS and immediately installed winzip then unzipped the drivers and installed them. By all accounts, they should work. Here is what I am getting though. The drivers appear to be working. (Huh, you might ask. Listen to this...) By looking at that light on the monitor, it goes to a nice green light. But at the screen, all I get is blank. Just a dark black blank screen. In win95, the 5.13 drivers just worked flawlessly. But I dont want to use that OS for opengl. The same goes for version 3.81. But for 3.66 (which I am using now) everything is just perfect. I know, some of you are just saying just to stick with 3.66, but I want to make the 5.13 work perfect. Just reading all of the good posts of 5.13, I must get these to work. Would the fact that I use a voodoo2 card and have that pass thru vga hook up going be a part of it?. All IRQ problems have been previously eliminated, so count that out as a possible cause. As an update to my profile, I now use a 20gig seagate attached to a modified Promise66 turned into a raid controller. ------------------ Celeron 300A@450, Abit BH6, 160 RAM, Maxtor 6.4 UDAM33 HD, 48x Lite-on CDROM Diamond v770 tnt2 16 meg, Voodoo2 8, meg, 17"Daytek Share this post Link to post
FrogMaster 0 Posted April 4, 2000 I never was able to have my pair of Voodoo's 2 working properly under W2K, with any combination of drivers. I usually just get a grey/green flash then a blank screen. At the 3dfx website they say that Voodoo 2 is not supported in W2K because of licensing issues with Microsoft. Anyway, I believe Voodoo 2 is now obsolete. In Win98, the SLI combo gives half the fps as compared to my GeForce DDR, moreover with only 16 bit rendering. Share this post Link to post
euankirkhope 0 Posted April 4, 2000 Loads of people have suffered the exact same thing. It seams to caused by the PCI IRQ routing, and/or the AGP driver. If you have a card in PCI slot 1 remove it, go into the bios setup and select "reset configuration" to enabled or similar. Then restart. Reload the drivers, if necessary. If this still doesn't work, then try the 3.66 version, these don;t have D3D and AGP, but opengl and DDraw work perfectly, and are like minimum support drivers, but have the best compatibilty. If all else doen't work then use the NT4 latest drivers, these don't bring any of the problems such as AGP, D3D and IRQ Sharing If non of the above work, delete w2k, and re-install with with no other PCI card installed, (put them back in after, the card starts working) Update your bios, disable ACPI... are things you'll probably also have tried, so I won't mention them Share this post Link to post
JediBaron 0 Posted April 4, 2000 What motherboard do you have? I had a really bad time getting the AGP to work stable on my FIC 2013 board. Every driver base for NVidia over 3.66 (may include 3.66) enabled the AGP in directx. when I installed those drivers my Win2K would just boot to a black-screen. I switched out my board (without reinstalling, I might add ) to a DFI K6XV3 +/66 which has the same chipset (VIA MVP3) just with UDMA66 enabled and everything worked absolutely fine - even was able to turn on Win2k's PnP manager again. Tim Bazzinett 0 Posted April 5, 2000 I am using an Abit BH6 without a card in the first pci slot (if you consider the one closest to the AGP slot as slot 1). Like I said, I can get D3D and opengl acceleration off the 3.66 drivers. Just not anything above that version. More info on what I have installed in the PCI slots. I have a diamond mx300 sound card, realtek 10mbs ethernet card, promise "hacked fasttrak66 raid controller", and a Diamond voodoo2 card. All of these cards are no longer conflicting with each other (finally...!). Is there some sort of agp driver needed to get these things working right. AND WHERE THE HELL IS THE OLD SEARCH FEATURE FOR THE BOARD!!? 8) Share this post Link to post
