pirinto 0 Posted April 12, 2000 When I try to test different refresh rates on NT4 (Workstation) my setup (K6-3 40Mhz, MVP3-mobo, 128Mb RAM, MX300, V3 2000) My computer will go to a blank screen and freeze, this is rather annoying since it means I can't play games since it locks up when a resolution change occurs. I've tried Powerstrip and the resolution changes work, but when I try to play (with powerstrip still on) any game I get a blank screen since it can't change resolution The only game I know has worked is Quake2 but Baldur's Gate, Half-life do not work. I'm using the latest drivers and have no problems whatsoever on NT (except that one). Is there any way to "lock" refreshrates to resolutions on NT in the register? I would like to know If any of you have had a similar problem and solved it please let me know, I'm kinda desperate and pissed right now. Thanks Share this post Link to post
euankirkhope 0 Posted April 14, 2000 thats a hard one, its dead easy with win9x. So; run regedit and search for the modes that don't work like 640,480 or 800,600 note the comma is the separator, not an 'x' etc. Also maybe you monitor is not setup right. Lots of people find that they can't change there monitor, so search for monitor*.inf in the registry where * is a number starting from 1 Perhaps that is because you have a PNP monitor. and it has been properly detected? If so try searching for MonitorClassInstaller and just mess about with the settings, also try disabling DPMS. Some monitors take ages to switch res, (like mine). Share this post Link to post
