"When I purchased my first laptop several years ago, I thought I’d be

using the optical drive all of the time. Back then, we did use physical

media for a lot of things, and we still do today. Installing software

from a CD or DVD, watching DVD movies, and burning discs were all tasks

that were high on my priority list, or so I thought. Come to find out, I

hardly ever used the optical drive, and these days, I use the optical

drive in my PowerBook even less than I did before, which is really

saying something."
