tristan777 0 Posted April 17, 2000 ok in device manager, where it says standard pc at the top(i assume this is the same on every system.) there is one of the yellow exclamation things. this is the error: This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed. (Code 24) this seems to be a favorite of windows, because just about every problem i hav had thus far this is the error i get. anyway, it doesnt seem to have really affected anything but i am just wondering what it means and how do i get rid of it? i also have a problem when i install my microtek slimscan c3. first of it installs it as a scsi scanner, and its not. but it works anyway, so i dont worry about it. also the bidirectionality of my hp deskjet 712c doesnt work when using the pass thru. i remedied this by just plugging and unplugging them when needed. somewhat of a pain but it works. anyway, it installs 2 scsi controllers and i have neither but it i try to delete either one, the scanner doesnt work. there is a yellow exclamation by both all the time too. the above problems, havent seemed to noticably affect performance but they're just sort of annoying, and i was wondering if there was anyway to get rid of them. and finally i have a problem with my udma 13 gig western digital hard drive. dma is enabled in the bios and when it says udma in the box when i restart. i hav the primary ide controller set to dma if available in windows but it still wants to use PIO. i'm not sure how to fix this but i'm sure it would improve performance quite a bit if i did... sorry for the long post and thanks for your help.
