mpt45 0 Posted April 20, 2000 I am just wondering if anyone has found any drivers or a way to install the Windows 98 Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 USB speakers software?? I really miss having that fancy blue volume control with all of the preset EQ's and easy adjustments of bass or whatever. I am not very pleased with the driver that Windows 2000 comes with for default. It has none of that fancy configurable stuff. Anyone having the same feelings as me? I am doubting that Microsoft is even going to release a Windows 2000 driver with all that fancy stuff. Kris Venden mpt45@hotmail.com --- Please email me if you have any ideas. Vechlor 0 Posted April 21, 2000 Hello. I don't think Microsoft will ever release any new software for the DSS80 speakers since they are not manufacturing them anymore. Ever since Windows 2K Pro RC3 came out, I decided to leave the 2D world to join the 3D world of sound by buying a MX300 sound card off Ebay brand new for less than $50. The sound quality is just about the same using the speakers with the sound card plus you won't believe how many sound effect channels you aren’t getting with USB. If you buy the MX300 from Diamond and install the latest Aureal drivers, the control panel has a tab called speakers, and there you can select from 3 different speakers for EQ, including EQ for DSS80. Plus it has about 10 more EQ bands and each speaker can be set up with its own set of bands. I hope this helps you choose what you want to do with your speakers. Share this post Link to post
