Ender_Xien 0 Posted February 2, 2000 I had Win2K working perfectly but I recently reformatted my HD and reloaded Win98 and Win2k. I did everything the same (except I have a new USB mouse) but now everytime someone calls me my computer locks up. I have the Actiontec 56k PCI Call Waiting Modem. I loaded the default 56k V.90 modem drivers that I had on previously. If anyone knows why this is happening please let me know. My system specs are as follows: Windows 2k RC1 and RC2 Pentium II 350mhz 160mb ram Actiontec 56k PCI Call Waiting Modem Voodoo3, 2000 Sound Blaster Audio PCI (64D) Toshiba DVD Memorex CDR/RW Internal Zip Drive Hollywood DVD 1 Decoder Card 13 gig Quantum Fireball Please HELP!! apruch 0 Posted April 26, 2000 I am having the exact same problem. I was blaming my lock ups on the video drivers, but I just noticed that when ever I get a phone call Win2000 freezes every time. I've disabled the call waiting feature but it doesn't help. This is really weird. System: Celeron 400@450 Abit bx6 r2 Diamond Vipper v770 (tnt2 non ultra) Nvidia 5.4 Sblive value, liveware ACTIONTEC PCI CALL WAITING MODEM 128meg Maxtor 5gig Share this post Link to post
eric-marques-net 0 Posted April 26, 2000 I dont think the problem is the driver There must be some program that is running that listens for calls on the modem like software that came with the modem Try pressing control+alt+del or look in the startup group or in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run If you find it delete the registry key or the icon in the startup group Try uninstalling the driver and the modems software and restarting your computer Win2K will find the device and install the driver ONLY and not the modems additional software Share this post Link to post
n4cer 0 Posted April 28, 2000 There is new firmware posted at http://www.actiontec.com/support/modems/cwi.html I haven't tried it yet, but it may help. The current flasher is not compatible with Windows 2000 so you will have to flash it under Win 9x, or wait until the release a new version. Share this post Link to post
