Woodlet 0 Posted May 9, 2000 What's the best modem for use with win2k and win98? I run a dual boot, and since I reinstalled win98se, my current modem(LT winmodem OEM from an IBM), locks my 98SE when I(or it) restart(s). Normally I wouldn't really care, but I get different performace depending on the OS, 2k pings better, but 98se get better d/l speeds. any input in helpful. Thanks Woodlet Share this post Link to post
ledzeppel 0 Posted May 9, 2000 A couple: 3Com 56K external (non-USB) 3Com Internet Gaming Modem (PCI, and a hardware modem! Only pci modem that I know of that is ALL hardware, no winmodem/software modem here!) 3Com V.Everything Courier modem. Those are the best ones I know of. Some of the Diamond modems might be worth a look at too. Share this post Link to post
Woodlet 0 Posted May 9, 2000 Thanks man, That Couriur is EXPENSIVE! I'd love to get one, but I can't afford it. I'll probably end up choosing between the other two, based partially on price. Thanks Anyone else got any input? Share this post Link to post

Damien 0 Posted May 10, 2000 Zoom PCI internal modems are also very good - I've got one in each of my machines and they run absolutely troble free with good high speed connections (50.6K on a good day!) [This message has been edited by Damien (edited 11 May 2000).] Share this post Link to post
