news 28 Posted September 8, 2008 Hello, Here is a new major release for Swfdec. Swfdec is the Free Flash player used by GNOME. This release supersedes the 0.6.8 release as the current supported stable release, please upgrade as soon as possible. swfdec-0.8.0 ("Slide") http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/download/swfdec/0.8/swfdec-0.8.0.tar.gz MD5: ce3002fc5d8ace9ce34ce960c0cc3c06 swfdec-mozilla-0.8.0 ("Best Friends Forever") http://swfdec.freedesktop.org/download/swfdec-mozilla/0.8/swfdec-mozilla-0.8.0.tar.gz MD5: c80f3139ad8900a3d0bd9684e5db46a9 This unstable cycle has primarily focused on more correct support for Flash files, so apart from a lot of files suddenly working not much has changed. Also, quite a few of the low-hanging performance-fruit have been harvested, which should make Flash quite a bit quicker. The most notable features in this release cycle are the addition off full-screen support and using Mozilla's new windowless mode, which makes Flash plugins obey stacking order of elements on websites. Another often-requested feature that has been implemented is autoplay. Known issues in this release: - Flash files that use windowless mode in browsers cannot change the cursor to indicate text or links. See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=430451 - Firefox versions 3.0.0 and 3.0.1 can crash with plugins using windowless mode. This will be fixed i Firefox 3.0.2 See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=435764 Swfdec still follows the no-crashes-allowed policy. Should you still succeed in finding a crasher, please immediately file a bug at https://bugs.freedesktop.org.
