Denver, Colorado - Third Street Software today announced the release of Sente 5.6. This new version of the popular academic reference manager includes an embedded web browser that supports "targeted browsing" - a new feature that enables users to capture reference data from many web sites with a single mouse click.

"When Sente detects a reference on a web page from, say, Thomson's Web of Knowledge or Google Scholar, Sente automatically inserts a target button into the web page. Clicking on the target will cause Sente to add the reference to the user's library with no further user intervention. The target is changed to a Sente icon to indicate that the reference is now in the database. It is just that easy," said Michael Stevens of Third Street Software.

A video demonstrating targeted browsing can be viewed on their website.

Targeted browsing currently supports numerous academic literature sites, including: EBSCOhost, PubMed, Web of Knowledge, JSTOR, Project MUSE, HighWire, arXiv, Library of Congress, CiteSeer, Elsevier Science Direct, SpringerLink, Scirus, and ProQuest. Support for more sites will be added in future releases.

Sente 5.6 also includes significant improvements to the bibliography format editor that make it possible to create more complex bibliography formats. These new features make it possible to create richer formats than can be produced by other common bibliography programs.

Sente 5 requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later. 1GB RAM (or more) is recommended. Sente is a Universal Binary for PowerPC and Intel Macs.
