Ranger 0 Posted May 26, 2000 Ok, we have heard it over and over. Will this work?, why dosent that work?....lol. The fact is Windows 2000 is a first OS of its kind. An MS operating system running under NT architecture with Plug and Play and DirectX support!. Eeeeeek!, a problem just waiting to happen...lol OK, so the manufacturers are now catching on and w2k is now becomming a standard within software and hardware manufactures lists, allowing the kind of support we need!. New hardware seems to be more supported then the old, no suprises here, but before you wonder why you are having problems or before you purchase any new hardware to run under W2K there are a few critical steps that I recommed everyone takes. 1. CHECK THE WINDOWS 2000 HARDWARE COMPATIBILITY LIST (HCL) to see if your hardware is supported. Seeing your hardware listed, or not listed, does not always mean that it will not work all together, but that MS wont have MS certified drivers avalible. You can check your hardwar on the HCL at this URL: http://www.microsoft.com/hcl/default.asp 2. Check with the Maunfacturer of your harware. See if they have the latest patches or hotfix's for new and old hardware. Some just dont have any full stop. Checking this site and forums his also a big help. 3. If you still have problems with Windows 2000 Hardware!. Try the new MS 2000/NT diagnostic helper here: http://dsg.rte.microsoft.com/ This sight is still a little in developement I think so it cant help with everything (who can..lol) but it may get you on the right track. Maybe.... Anyway, I hope this helps. Im no Guru but I these are a few basic steps that may help starting off. Cheers. Share this post Link to post
