news 28 Posted November 14, 2008 Everything USB is pleased to announce our Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse review. Showcasing Microsoft's new-for-2008 BlueTrack technology, the Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse boasts a unique laser tracking system that claims to make the mouse usable on practically any surface. Designed to be both portable and fully-featured, the Explorer Mini employs a 2.4GHz wireless connection and ergonomically styled body in an attempt to be the ultimate mouse for desktop users who have the occasional need to work on the road, and who appreciate the latest technology. For full review, read on. http://www.everythingusb.com/microsoft-explorer-mini-mouse-15666.html Verdict: While the new BlueTrack laser tracking engine is novel, and works fairly well, this in itself is not enough to elevate the Microsoft Explorer Mini Mouse to recommended status. The Explorer Mini attempts to be everything to everybody but ends up being a compromise that suits right-handed desktop users with small hands best. A few key omissions make this a decently executed, but flawed package. The Good: + Ergonomic, functional shape + Rubberized sections for good grip + Slightly smaller than full sized mice for improved portability + Smooth and expensive feeling scroll wheel with no clicking detents + Great range (up to 30 ft.) + Includes carrying case & driver CD The Bad: - Tracks poorly on glass desks and glossy surfaces (especially those that aren't spotlessly clean) - Right handed only - Relatively large wireless USB dongle - Dongle storage on bottom not very elegant - Mouse not rechargeable like the full-sized version - Battery life not that great - Better as Bluetooh Regards, Ian Chiu Managing Editor, Everything USB http://www.everythingusb.com/ Share this post Link to post
