Problem with AGP2x on Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, Help please

Recommended Posts

ok I have a Celeron 300a@464 on a Abit BH6 Rev 1.01, 192 Pc100, Matrox

G400 32 SH, SBlive Value, Supra Express 56i ISA, all running on Win2k

pro with other odds and ends smile

and when i install the g400 drivers the card starts in agp2x mode but

if I run any games or benchmarks for any amount of time, i get a

lockup and distorted screen. Agp1x does not do this. Is this a win2k

problem? Someone told me that since all 3 of my 64 meg dimms are by

different manufactures that taht may be the problem. Any ideas? Also

im running in standard pc mode and have no IRQ conflicts and the G400

is on IRQ 9

When u gona learn that computers aren't supposed to work with win2k, and it was only invented to keep the tech support industry busy? smile

We all know what system u've got cos u've almost posted about the shi$"$" problems that w2k spews up as many time as me!

With the last driver release for my TNT, AGP miraculously became enabled, but is has made no difference to the speed of any games frown (no doubt its being faked!).

You have a mobo to die for, unlike my via 503+, (didn't you have a via?) that shouldn't have any probs. Most likely the G400 drivers are too imature (my tnt drivers have just matured :)) so give a while yet...

As for the memory, it shouldn't matter as, if we take the speed of the memory (or latency) for each clock cycle; if (and only if) one dimm is too slow to keep up and supply the correct data by the next clock cycle will an error occur. If this is the case then you are overclocking the memory and thats just silly. So you won't be doing that will you smile

Just sit back, and wait. Your time will come.

Ps. thanks for the bios updates!

Update! My TNT doesn't work no matter what unless I'm in ACPI mode, although the com ports don't work its worth it, so give it a try. At the last resort you can use a serial I/O board like me.

cool, i was just wondering because someone had told me that the BH6 does not like when all three dimms are filled, memory is mismatched. And I have both instances smile I will say that this mobo is a dream compared to my PA-2013 rev 2.1 I had previously smile
