kgeissler 0 Posted June 18, 2000 I have a Abit KA7 MB with a Athlon 800. When I go into the Softmenu to try and overclock it to 840Mhz 105 x 8, it will start to load Windows 2000, then reboot. Is there a trick to overclocking? What do I need to do. BTW, the memory is just a generic 128MB and a generic 64MB PC100 memory, for a total of 196 Share this post Link to post
Damien 0 Posted June 18, 2000 Right: 1. You may need more cooling - expecially is you're using a standard Athlon Heatsink. Try getting hold of a Globalwin VOS32 or something similar - http://www.overclockers.com has info on these or similar. 2. You're memory might no be up to the task, even though it's rated PC100 - not all memory is alike, and yours might no be of a high enough quality to guarentee stable overclocking. 3. Win 2K is very fussy about an overclocked system - far more so that Win 98 - you may have found your limits - although I admit that this is unlikely. Share this post Link to post
