news 28 Posted December 10, 2008 AOOH-GAH -------- If you have no clue what GDM is, refer to the documentation links at the bottom of this announcement. The 2.20.9 release is a stable release of the GNOME Display Manager (GDM) program with a few minor fixes and language translation updates. Several Solaris specific issues have been addressed that came to light due to OpenSolaris now being available. - Fix processing of configuration variables in GDM's cleanup function so that configuration options aren't checked after they are freed. (Brian Cameron) - Fix for underquoted strings in comparisons in the Init script. (Pacho Ramos) - Update docs so that the PamStack configuration option is explained. (Brian Cameron) - Correct processing of CONSOLE and PASSREQ /etc/default/login parameters so that they are checked each time a user logs in, and the most recent setting is used. Thus, if the value is changed, GDM honors it immediately. (Brian Cameron) - Trusted Solaris integration now supports multilabel session entires. (Stephen Browne) - Fix so that the gdm_ensure_sanity function is non-functional on Solaris. This function sets file permissions on sockets which are inappropriate o Solaris. (Brian Cameron) - When using the Solaris ZFS filesystem, the ACL's are now properly set so that the "gdm" user has access to the sound device, so text-to-speech can work. (Brian Cameron) - Fix for Solaris fbconsole launching code so that fbconsole is killed when the user logs out. (Brian Cameron) - Use bourne-shell syntax in config/Xsession.solaris which is more portable. (Takao Fujiwara) - Translation updates (Djihed Afifi, Pema Geyleg, Kenneth Nielsen, Mugurel Tudor, Changwoo Ryu) Note: GDM2 was originally written by Martin K. Petersen . Much work has been done on GDM2 by George Lebl; and Brian Cameron. Note2: If installing from the tarball do note that make install overwrites most of the setup files, all except gdm.conf. It will however save backups with the .orig extension first. #ifndef GDM_DISABLE_DEPRECATED Note3: Note3 has been depracated ... #endif /* GDM_DISABLE_DEPRECATED */ Downloading: ============ Online Documentation - http://www.gnome.org/projects/gdm/ Latest Stable - http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gdm/2.24/ Latest Unstable - http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gdm/2.25/ Bug Reporting - http://bugzilla.gnome.org in the "gdm" category.
