ATi Catalyst 8.12 CrossFire enabling problems Link

If you are running two ATI Radeon HD4850 cards from different vendors, e.g

ASUS and PowerColor. You would encounter a problem trying to detect the

cards in VISTA. This happens if you install Catalyst 8.12 driver.

 

The two cards will be installed accordingly. When you try to enable

CrossFire, it will prompt you an error message that one of the card is not

functioning and will be disabled.

 

We went on to troubleshoot both cards and they are found to be in working

condition.

 

Despite all the installing and uninstalling even a fresh Vista32, the same

problem persists.

 

At a last resort, we uninstall, rebooted and installed Catalyst 8.8 and

everything works perfectly.

 

It might be an isolated case but it might just happen to your system. So

don't panic. It is just a driver issue.

The AMD Phenom II X4 940 (3GHz = 200x15) runs on ASRock AOD790GX/128M with 2

pieces of AMD Radeon HD 4850 paired up to run CrossFire. Below is the score

line.
