Recommended Posts

Im a first time Windows 2000 user and everything work fine... up to the video card, I tried every driver possible, both from nvidia directly, and from creatives labs for windows 2000... but I always get the same error message "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" anyone know what could cause this to happen ???

thank you all

Benoit

PS. im running both windows 98 and windows 2000 professionnal side by side, and windows 2000 use a fat32 file system.

it doesnt tell me that I have any conflict... only The device cannot start

Please tell me...How can you SEE a error message if your device (GRAPHICS CARD) cannot start?

Do you see everything with standard VGA (640x480 and 16 colors)?

I see this error message when I load my machine in safe mode, when I open my device manager I see either graphic blaster riva tnt or nvidia riva tnt, depending of the drivers I had installed. Beside it there is always an ! and the error message it give is: unable to start device.

note that when I go on display setting and I look at what driver are being use it is always VGAsafe. (I guess they put this one when they see that the other one is not working correctly)

another thing I must say is that I tried to change my video card to another pci slot but it havent helped

finally this is where I think there may be a problem when I look to the location of the card here is what they give

Location 1 (PCI bus 0, device 12, function 0)

is a pci bus 0 something possible?

if this is where the problem is, how can I get rid of it?

finally, Im using the pci version of the creative labs riva tnt card, not the AGP

Thanks to all

Benoit
