Also, In celebration of 25 years of the Mac, the makers of Welcome to Macintosh introduce an international User Group screening tour, allowing groups to register events to gain publicity, and more. Los Angeles, CA - During the Macworld 2009 Expo this past January, the documentary "Welcome to Macintosh" was screened to an audience that consisted of several notable Apple personalities and a surprise guest: Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer. Wozniak commented during Q&A after the screening that Welcome to Macintosh was "So much on the mark... I've been involved with some other independent films and this is by far the best one I've seen." This came only weeks after the Welcome to Macintosh DVD began shipping for the price of $19.84 - a significant date to Apple and Mac fans around the world. In celebration of 25 years of the Mac, the makers of Welcome to Macintosh are planning an international Mac and Apple User Group tour, offering free memorabilia and DVDs as well as discounts on the DVD, exclusively for user groups & Apple centric organizations. Good Things to Say Steve Wozniak is not the only one who approves, former Apple employees, engineers and community members agree. "Every Mac user should watch this movie." Says Guy Kawasaki, Author of "Reality Check" and creator of Alltop, the "digital magazine rack." Andy Hertzfeld, Co-creator of the Mac and Author of "Revolution in The Valley" says that "Welcome to Macintosh captures and exemplifies the unique spirit expressed in Apple's products." Ron Wayne, Co-founder of the Apple Computer Company and Author of "Nature of Money" says "Welcome to Macintosh is an entertaining, and illuminating look at the people and events that made Apple and the Macintosh the phenomenon it is today." Leander Kahney, Author of "Inside Steve's Brain" and "Cult of Mac" said that Welcome to Macintosh "…is an insightful look at Apple history and a ton of fun to watch!" Celebrating the Mac FirstTech, one of the first and longest running Apple resellers in the country, will be screening "Welcome to Macintosh" on Saturday, February 7th at 4pm. The screening will take place at the Suburban World Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The showing is free for individuals who have passes, which are only available at FirstTech, 2640 Hennepin Ave So, Minneapolis and will be followed by a panel discussion moderated by Julio Ojeda-Zapata, consumer-technology reporter and columnist for the St Paul Pioneer Press, and features co-directors Rob Baca and Josh Rizzo as well as Wayne Wenzlaff a local figure and early Apple pioneer who is featured in the film. FirstTech is a Twin Cities Apple dealer showcased in the film as being the longest continuously running Apple dealer in the United States. First Tech recently celebrated 31 years as an Apple dealer. Earlier that same day members of the Washington Apple Pi user group will also gather to view Welcome to Macintosh. Washington Apple Pi is an international user group with a history spanning three decades to the dawn of personal computing. The "Pi" continues to serve users of the very first personal computers as well as users of the most modern, advanced systems through its meetings, magazine, computer bulletin board and internet services.
