Radar 0 Posted July 14, 2000 I have a relatively new HP 9110i CR Writer. When I had it working with NT I successfully created two music CDs from MP3s using Memorex 650Mbyte CD-R media (x1 write speed). Since I've upgraded to Win2K I've not been able to create any music CDs on three attempts; 1. MP3 to CD (x8 speed using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02 Audio CD App). Got errors 80% into the burn. Disk is unuseable. 2. Direct music CD copy to CD-R (x8 speed using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02 CD Copy App). Got errors 98% into burn, however, the CD can be played on a CD music player; only the last 4 tracks out of 24 have clicks, pops, and skips. 3. Direct music CD (same source CD as before) copy to CD-R (x1 speed using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4.02 CD Copy App). This time I instructed CD Copy to copy to hard drive first. Got not errors this time, however, the CD can be played on a CD music player; only the last 4 tracks out of 24 have clicks, pops, and skips. In all cases I used Memorex media. HP Support suggested I try media with a blue or green background. They mentioned that Memorex are not a high quality media. They suggest Kodac or Sony media. Any substance to this? wind 0 Posted July 14, 2000 I have had a fair bit of experience with burning audio cds and playing them on cd players. I found that some of the cds that I used skipped and had various problems (kodak, pioneer, princo), but when switching to different types of cds (tdk and verbaitm) the problems went away. It has a lot to do with the individual cd player itself, and the quality of it, but I would have to say that blue die cd's have worked best for me. Burning cds at a slower speed also helps the overall quality of the media, or you could even use a special type of blank cds designed for audio (they're like $7AU over here, where normal cds are $1.80AU, owch). note: kodak and pioneer cds have changed quite a bit since I last used them for audio cds and could be of decent/good quality now. MarksmanX 0 Posted July 14, 2000 I have seen alot of burn problems lately with the HP burners this month. I do use Memorex 80min CDs and they work fine and don't skip or pop at all. Could you please tell me what soundcard you are using? I don't see the logic when it's working find in Windows 9X OS but when you upgrade to Windows 2000 the CD Recordables suddenly turn bad? This is clearly a driver and firmware issue (or hardware if it doesn't support Windows 2000). Did you do a clean install or just upgraded to Windows 2000? Doing a clean install is best to get rid of the old Windows 9X regestries which might conflict with Windows 2000. Also there is an update to 4.02C for the Adaptec Easy CD Creator. ComputerMan 0 Posted July 15, 2000 hey man I have trouble already when i dont defragment the harddisk recording at 4x or when the harddisk is almost full. Should you defragment the disk first and then if there is no relief, slow down at 4X. Share this post Link to post

DeadCats 0 Posted July 15, 2000 I burn from 20 to 100 CD-R's a week using Win2K, ECDC 4.02c and an HP 8100i burner at 4x-speed, using Imation 74 Min CD-R's I buy in the 100-pack. I have virtually no bad burns. sailmoon 0 Posted July 15, 2000 I have HP 8210 CD-Writer and i haven't any problem about burn. Some CD-Writer stop the burning when the power management is active. FOR EXAMPLE: If you set to suspend the HD or CPU after 15 minutes then your burn will stop because the datas are interrupt. Check the power management by Windows and your bios. About the Blank CD quality: If you have a corrupt blank cd, the burn process never begin. Memorex produce a good blank cd! Share this post Link to post

I have a piece of **** mitsumi 2801TE it absolutely will not burn to any other cd-r media except verbatim and the el cheapo HI-VAL brand that i can sometimes find at wal-mart. I mean it stinks big time that I have to only use these two brands. only good thing is I can buy the verbatim 50 pack spindles from sams club for like 26 bucks or the verbatim 20 pack jewel boxed ones from sams but hey when it's a 30 to 40 minute drive to sams and you're out of CDs and don't have time to go get em its a problem Share this post Link to post
