Sheffield, UK - Versatile Delivery Systems Ltd (VDS), creators of the Frameline Video Asset Management Software, Frameline 47, are pleased to announce that they have been selected as software vendor by the Swiss 'Humen' Institute for the creation of a humanities archive. The archive will consist of personal testimonies from over 100 persons who worked or are still working in the field during armed conflicts or natural calamities.

This rich material will be the core of a big audiovisual exhibition intended to be shown in major museums in Switzerland beginning in 2011. A light version of the exhibition is going to tour the country in small museums, school classes, community buildings and maybe abroad. This initiative build on a great success the same group of producers had some years ago collecting memories of persons having witnessed the Second World War.

James Engwell, CEO of VDS, "We are very proud for Frameline to have been selected as the Video Archive Solution for the Humen Institute, I believe that the simplicity and robustness of our solution, together with our affordability and strict adherence to international metadata standards (MPEG7) helped secure the contract. We wish the team at Humen all the best with the project and are very much looking forward to working with them."

Following an extensive Research and Development period, version 1.0 of Frameline was launched in 2006. September 2008 saw the launch of version 3.0 of the software. Currently, Frameline is the only video annotation software to support the MPEG-7 metadata standard. Frameline is also the only current video solution to make use of MPEG47 file embedded metadata, which drastically reduces one of the inherent risks of video archiving, media descriptions losing the link to what they describe. One of the key advantages of file embedded metadata is that archives can be built that sidestep the disadvantage of keeping media and metadata separately.
