vnix 0 Posted March 7, 2009 Before this, everything works fine. My card auto goes into 2D mode when idle and into 3D performance when I playing games. After installed some basic program and Vista update. After boot into Vista, the clock speed is always running at 648MHZ even idle. I try to restart comp and still the same and you can't DC or OC it. The only thing you can control is the fan speed. I am running on Vista Ultimate X64 and using the latest driver from Nvidia. Please help and sorry for my ENG. Thanks. Answer The clock level of the GPU is based on a number of things besides whether the PC is in a Windows idle state, including: a) Number of monitors attached - multiple displays require higher GPU bandwidth which can result in higher clock levels. Try configuring only a single monitor and see if clocks drop down to idle levels. 3D Applications - some applications may not appear to be 3D but in fact are making DirectX/OpenGL/CUDA calls to the GPU and can cause the GPU to operate at higher clock levels. These applications can include even control panels and utilities. Try closing all applications on the desktop and see if clocks drop down to idle levels Reference Share this post Link to post
