@~@:~KEV~:@~@ 0 Posted August 27, 2000 I have a problem with my sblive! Player 1024 i think the problem is caused by the fact that the new drivers are WDM and are about as hardware accelerated as a ****e. It does it in live ware 1 and 3. The crackling only occurs if there is movement on the screen, be that the spectrum analyser on winamp (turn that off and it nearly all dissaperars with only a single click now and again), clicking the start menu, or playing a DVD. So someone needs to use there brain and go back to the good old VXD. if u turn the buffer lenght up in winamp its no as noticable but its still there. oh and while im here anyone had a cable fault with a microsoft intellimouse explorer? i have one now and its REALLY annoying cos it just stops and u have to unplug in and plug it in again [This message has been edited by @~@:~KEV~:@~@ (edited 27 August 2000).] Share this post Link to post
Damien 0 Posted August 30, 2000 I don't think that the problem is caused by the WDM drivers, rather it seems to be a hardware configuration problem. Unfortunately in order to help you we'll need a little more info i.e IRQ's, types of components in you're PC. To start you off, ensure there are no IRQ conflicts etc. and there there is an empty slot below the graphics card. Try relocating the sound card in different PCI slots, this might change the resource allocation under windows. If you're running WIN2K, are you running under ACPI? If so try reinstalling the system as Standard PC (instructions on how to do this are avalible in this forum - do a search). Check that you're not for some reason underclocking or overclocking the PCI bus - check the divider settings under the bios - PCI should run at 33 MHZ or if FSB=100 then on a 1/3 divider. ------------------ Share this post Link to post
euankirkhope 0 Posted August 30, 2000 Try changing the PCI bus latency in bios, or with sandra or powerstrip (if you can). Sometimes other PC cards like matrox milleniums and the likes alter this so they get more "time", thus cutting off other devices for short periods of time. If the cards sound buffers are too small it will run out of data, and will have to wait for the other PCI devices to give up the bus. It may be worth a try. I haven't yet experienced this problem. I've only had the card (rev E by the way). I can't really think of much to say Although as soon as I re-install win98, (as winme final is absolute crap),I'll use it more. Every time there is a tiny hardware change it fails to startup crashing explorer at its initialisation. It's caused by Devcon32.dll which as it happens is a creative labs file. That explains a lot. In win2k with winamp it doesn't work at 100ms@1K buffer/block size, unlike the SB64PCI. I was disapointed as I bought so I could pretend to be a DJ. Its also a bit low on volume. Even in BeOS. Make sure the mobo bios, and other system drivers are upto date. ------------------ System Spec: Athlon 800 Gigabyte GA-7IXE F4 128Mb SSi PC100 TNT (radeon coming) Hauppauge Wintv Model 406 Realtek 8029 LAN (cnx to ISDN server) Creative ES1371 (PCI64v) Creative SBlive Value Creative 48mx CDROM Memorex TriMaxx200(DVD/CDR/CDRW, 6,4,24) Maxtor 91301U3 13Gb UDMA 4 LS120 Share this post Link to post
euankirkhope 0 Posted August 30, 2000 The mouse thing is not a cable fault it is either the software, mouse or USB/serial port. Unfortunately you can't use VXD's in NT4/5, shame, cause then my playstation joypad would work in windows 2000. Share this post Link to post
@~@:~KEV~:@~@ 0 Posted August 30, 2000 im pretty sure its a cable fault - it just died totally but worked again 3 hours lateras for the spec the modem is sharing with the graphics on 11 the netcard and sb live are sharing 12 tv card video is sharing with tv card audio on 5 :-) the mobo is a via MVP3 with latest bios but win2k doesn't like acpi - it automatically installs it as satndard and if u choose acpi it doesn't install Another point is that it doesn't turn off at shutdown even though i have a atx psu etc when it used to under 98 Share this post Link to post
