louissan 0 Posted September 5, 2000 Hello everyone ... Well, I've had a dual-PII400@448 running under Win2k for quite some time now and I'm still very pleased by its performance ... But it will soon be time for an upgrade!!! (sheeeesh) So I'm pondering over what to choose: - Buy two PIII 800 once the PIV is out (nice price/performance ratio I guess) - Buy one or two (my wallet won't like it) PIV once they're out ... and if the potential dual-processor mobos are out and support DDR-SDRAM ... - Buy from AMD !! Mind you, my problem is that I have fallen in LOVE with dual-processing!! It's just waaaaaaaaaay faster for all these demanding tasks such as Excel and Word an UltraEdit (arf! just kiddin'!! ). Anyway, does AMD plan to release any dual-processing chipsets in the future for their TBird CPU? And if so, will the price/performance ratio be interesting? That's it!! Any suggestions, or ideas or whatever, are welcome. Thanks Share this post Link to post
Four and Twenty 0 Posted September 5, 2000 Yes AMD is planning a SMP capable chipset and I think it will be out soon but i forget when. You can bet your ass that the AMD price/performance ratio will beat Intels for a good long while especialy with Intel doing a recall on $20 million worth of p3s right now. ------------------ My System Dell Demension XPS T500 Triple Boot Windows 2000 Pro 2195 / Windows Whistler Pro 2250 / Windows Millennium Final PIII @ 500 Mhz (with after market heatsink and dual fan) 128 Megs PC133 Ram TNT2 Ultra Graphics Card (with the core and memory overclocked by 20 Mhz and dual voodoo coolers) 3Com 10/100 Ethernet Card 3Com 56k Modem 12.6 Gig IBM HD 40X CD Rom Drive 100 Mb Zip Drive Share this post Link to post
