kowy 0 Posted April 12, 2009 Hey guys. I'm having problems with my USB ports. It's not recognizing anything I'm plugging in (bluetooth device, phone). I've tried the front and back but nothing happens. I looked in the Device Manager and there are exclamation marks by the USB related areas. I noticed I don't even see a "USB Root Hub" Here's an image: (Looking at properties shows this "Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41)") My Computer Information Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2 Motherboard Manufacturer: Asus Motherboard Name: A8AE-LE HP/Compaq motherboard name: AmberineM-GL6E Things I've tried- Uninstalled all of the USB Host Controllers then restarted, nothing. Tried to right click, and update driver, nothing. Scanned for hardware changes, nothing. Took out computer plug for over an hour, nothing. What else can I do? Help would be greatly appreciated, thank you! Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Looks like your USB drivers are not installed. Is this installation of Windows the original on the box, or did you install a version of Windows afterwards? What exact model of HP/Compaq system is this? Share this post Link to post
kowy 0 Posted April 13, 2009 It's the original. It was working fine for years, now it just decided to not work anymore. Don't know why! Here's the link to my system: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...eriesId=1814722 Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted April 13, 2009 I assume that you tried all the techniques in this article? Share this post Link to post
kowy 0 Posted April 13, 2009 I was reading the document last night, yes. Still doesn't work. Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted April 14, 2009 Did you try reinstalling the chipset drivers from here then up[censored] the drivers (as per the instructions) if the device manager still showed an exclamation mark next to the USB entries or SMBus Controller? Share this post Link to post
kowy 0 Posted April 14, 2009 Yeah. I tried it just now. Still not working! I guess I have no choice but to reformat? :\ Share this post Link to post
danleff 0 Posted April 19, 2009 When you updated the drivers, did you point the device manager update to the C:\SoftPaq\sp26608 folder that was created during the softpaq installation? Did you also try to run PC-Doctor on the system, as noted here? Share this post Link to post
