INFERNO2000 0 Posted September 10, 2000 I've got a few bucks to spare(about $60), so I've thought about setting up a VERY LOW END SMP PC. What I need to know is the lowest processor I can set up an SMP with...namely, can I do it with Pentium I's, which I can get for about $5 a piece, or do I have to go to Pentium II(which will of course cost more). And if anyone has any recomendations on a mobo that runs SIMMS(I have 20 mb of EDO that I want to use)...for that low processor end...please tell me. Thanks Share this post Link to post
MarksmanX 0 Posted September 10, 2000 A low end Pentium II will do. I don't know any dual socket 7 motherboards. Also, you need to save more than $60 ------------------ Supermicro P6DBE Rev 3.0 Motherboard Dual Intel Pentium III 850 512 MEGS of ECC RAM Sound Blaster Live! INFERNO2000 0 Posted September 10, 2000 you'd be surprised what I could find out there for cheap ok...PII is what I'll need then? \ ok time to get looking Share this post Link to post
Igor 0 Posted September 10, 2000 I'm 100% sure that Pentium1 233 work in duel setup and I'm sure 200 can do it as well. Just look around for some dueal socet 7 boards. I know that Tian makes one, and I think Gigabyte did (maybe not). My friend has SMP 233 system Fast in linux. Share this post Link to post
INFERNO2000 0 Posted September 10, 2000 I found 2 K6/2 266 cpus for just under $30. Would these work, or am I limited to the Intel line(which is fine..but about 20 dollars more) Share this post Link to post
