Llion 0 Posted September 18, 2000 Just (this time privately) played around with a new system - a little bit cold/warm MSI K7T pro Thunderbird 750 Coolermaster cooler Adaptec AHA2940AU (ultra) 2 x Infineon SDRAM 128 MB 133 / 2-2-2 ELSA Erazor x2 (Geforce256, DDR) Plextor 40x CD-Rom SCSI Yamaha 16/6/2 Burner SCSI Seagate 8 GB DAT streamer IBM Deskstar 75GXP, 30 GB 7200/UDMA100 CL SB Live player D-Link DFE530-TX NIC Logitech Cordless Mouseman pro DTK 300Watt PS uuuh...that´s it W2k pro VIA 4in1 x.25a Creative Liveware3 Office 2k premium Visual Studio 6.0 prof. SQL 7.0 Client Logitech Mouseware 9.0 Nvidia drivers 6.18 System seemed a bit unstable, hung three times during W2k setup - funny. Creative Liveware3 always tells me by an icon in the taskbar, there are new drivers / upgrades and when i go to 'update now' i get an error And 3D apps let me crash, 3Dmark within 2 minutes, even 3d screensavers. Haven´t tried something else of that kind yet I tried all memory settings, 100/2, 133/2, 100/3, 133/3, still...not crappy, but a little bit unstable. Any ideas about any of my concerns? Are there some special BIOS settings you would take care of? What about the new VIA drivers - good or bad remarks? Thanks for your advice and have fun Llion Share this post Link to post
Llion 0 Posted September 18, 2000 And - just to add this - the DMZG-demo doesnt start any more. I just get a glimpse of the screen - about a quarter of a second, and then it´s off again :-( Have (more) fun (than I do) Llion [This message has been edited by Llion (edited 18 September 2000).] Share this post Link to post
SHaRKeY2k 0 Posted September 19, 2000 i'm having problems aswell with the msi k7t pro. what sort of problems did you have during setup? Share this post Link to post
Llion 0 Posted September 20, 2000 Oh,just crashed a few times while copying files, nothing serious;-) But to be honest... no problems anymore: Going with AOpen AX3S and PIII 733@825 - absolutely flawlessly, no driver probs, no problem at all. Not often seen such a problemless installation (and we build a few thousand systems a year) and it 'feels' like the big brother of the (though fast) Thunderbird - brutal force was my first thought when I started working with it. Amazing! It´s a shame that a good CPU like Athlon has such a lot of crap around to sit in - nothing but probs with VIA! Have fun Llion Share this post Link to post
