Invisible mouse pointer ???

Recommended Posts

I have the following problem.

My computer has Matrox G400 Max/Dh and i use their latest win2k certified driver. I also use a MS intellimouse explorer with IntelliPoint 3.2 (driver version 3.20.0.484)

On many desktop apps (like VB for example) i loose mouse pointer when it comes over some dialog or form windows. The mouse works ok but the pointer stays invisible until i move it out of the specific window.

I found that if i step down hardware acceleration in display properties everything works ok. Also in full acceleration if i change mouse pointer from "windows animated" that i use to non animated standard scheme then the problem dissapears.

Any comments on this problem?

yeah, i have the same problem, i find that if i just click the "Show Desktop" icon that it usually clears this up. I have an intellimouse w/intellieye and a intellimouse optical. and it has happened with both of them. it is a pain in the ass i know. i guess we just have to deal with it.

Thank god! Others have a similar problem. I thought I was the only one.

"Hello, my name is Phil, and my mouse pointer disappears." *round of appluase*

I haven't experienced it in any major applications, but I have been trying to use the version of UnrealEd that ships with the Deus EX SDK, and my pointer is fine over the menus and toolbars, but as soon as I move it over one of the 3d or 2d view windows it vanishes.

I will admit that I haven't tried turning down the acceleration of the card, but I've tried pretty much everything else.

Guess it's wait and see time.

Try dropping back to the last beta version of the drivers.

It would seem that although many things are fixed in beta drivers they tend not to make it to the final release.

Also remember that Microsoft take so long to certify drivers, that the current 'certified' drivers may have been submitted to MS so long ago that they are actually older than the latest beta ones.

I see that i'm not alone smile

Unfortunately i don't remember a problem like this one using previous Matrox beta drivers. I didn't use those programs with problem then but i'll do the test as soon as possible.

PS: I was waiting for Matrox drivers six months now and finally are worst than beta ones. EXCELLENT BOYS !!!
