My computer crashes when opening

i have installed a CDRW and it can run in win2kpro without any problems, but i ma running win98 as well but it crashes when i try to open 'My Computer'. what could be the problem?

 

primary ide: harddrive

primary slave: floppy

secondary : cd-rom

secondary slave: CDRW
