TomAL 0 Posted December 18, 2000 I am looking for an upgrade, i first decided on a intel 866 with Asus CUSL2 Mobo, now i am thinking of a Athlon 1/1.1Ghz with an Asus A7V Mobo as this will give me the best performance for my money. Does anyone have any this athlon system as i have heard of problems with athlons, i will be running win2k. thanks in advance. Also on some pages of Asus's site it says 550-1+Ghz then some say 550-1Ghz anybody running a 1.1Ghz in this mobo, if not anyone know if it is possible. tom Share this post Link to post
TomAL 0 Posted December 18, 2000 Also i have a Creative SBLIVE, Creative DXR3, Netgear FA312, Hauppauge TV Card, Creative TNT2Ultra, HP 8100i CD-RW, Creative DVD 6X drive. Does anyone know of any compatibility problems with this motherboard. Tom Share this post Link to post
~Aragorn~ 0 Posted December 19, 2000 well first off i would say dont get the asus get the Abit KT7-RAID this is a better board as it has more features such as RAID and softmenu support for cpu speed etc. Also i would suggest - if ur machine is gonna be a gaming box - to buy a duron - the speed incrase is not actually that great and the durons are much more overclockable eg a 800 duron will easily hit 1 gig and could hit 1.3 Gig with some mega big a$$ cooling system Aragorn Share this post Link to post
TomAL 0 Posted December 19, 2000 thanks i was just looking at the kt7-raid, not sure about the duron as i dont like overclocking, dont ask me why i just dont want to do it. Tom Share this post Link to post

Bermein 0 Posted December 27, 2000 FYI, I've got a hollywood plus and Creative 6x DVD Encore, which I've as yet been unable to get to work under win2k. I've tried all the beta drivers for the hollywood plus to no avail. Both work fine under Win98. Share this post Link to post
TomAL 0 Posted December 27, 2000 yeah, this card has been working with the beta win2k drivers (creative) but they are cr*p, lip sync probs etc, and couldn't get the sigma design drivers to work. Its just sitting in my machine doing nothing. Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted December 28, 2000 thats why you don't buy from creative. They only make good soundcards but their support is worse than anything. I usually just buy generic OEM hardware because it works better with the manufacturers drivers. Share this post Link to post
TomAL 0 Posted December 28, 2000 Can anyone tell me the steps to get the sigma drivers and app to work with win2k on a dxr3. Thanks Share this post Link to post
