Spazticly Delicious 0 Posted January 6, 2001 This doesn't excactly belong here, but i don't know where else to ask, so here goes. I recently bought a Hercules GF2 Pro 64mb and a KT7-Raid motherboard, but everytime i try to boot up with the GF2 i get 1 long beep followed by 2 short beeps, the card is not loose in the AGP slot (tried MANY times to pull it a little out or push it hard in). I went to www.hercules.com and read about BIOS settings and applied them all but still the same problem, then i went and got the newest BIOS update for my motherboard but still no change. I tried to unplug all cards and all drives (CDROM and HDD) except for the display card but no change, there shouldn't be any power problems, i've got a 300w Power Supply. I tried the display card in 2 other computers and there were NO problems there, i've also tried a GF1 32mb SDR card in my computer without any problems, so the AGP slot isn't faulty. Does ANYONE have any ideas for me ? or had the same problem ? I appreciate ANY help i get. clutch 1 Posted January 6, 2001 I had a similar problem (but I can't remember the beep pattern) with 2 versions of the Hercules GF2 GTS Pro card. The first one (which was the longer of the two) had a broken transistor at the back end of it. The second one had a slight alignment problem with the mounting tab to the case that I have. What I did was plug the card in, and not put the screw in. Then I booted up, and it worked fine. So, I made a little spacer between the mounting bracket of the card and the mounting surface of the case and then put the card in. Once screwed down, it worked fine. ------------------ Regards, clutch Share this post Link to post
Spazticly Delicious 0 Posted January 7, 2001 I have the longer version of the card. I took the the mounting bracket on the card away, so there would be no problem with the card not going in all the way to the AGP slot, still there was 1 long beep and 2 short ones, i tried to turn on the computer with no graphics card at all and i get the same beeps then, it's like my computer doesn't detect the card at all. I went to my friend today and tested the card there, booted up all the way to windows and put the right driver in for it, but there are a lot of interference in the graphics (little white dots all over), the card is faulty, so i'm gonna go and switch it for another (warranty). Cluth, thanks for trying to help .. i appreciate it. Share this post Link to post
fury 0 Posted January 8, 2001 If you haven't already shipped it off to replace it, you might try resetting your bios. Not in the bios menu, either. I'm talking setting the jumper to clear CMOS, taking the battery and the power cord out. I used to have a Hercules Prophet Geforce2 MX card, and I had to reset my bios to get it to recognize the card Just a suggestion. Share this post Link to post
Spazticly Delicious 0 Posted January 9, 2001 Well, i tried the card in 2 other computers, the machines booted up .. BUT, the graphics was all screwy, white dots ALL over, i've already gotten a new one and it works perfectly, but thanks for the tip, i'll remember that the next time i run into a simular problem .. which i hope is never .. i hate problems .. they are so problematic =] But i thank you guys who tried to help.
