chalkrabbit 0 Posted June 27, 2003 I can't seem to be able to get RedHat 9 to pick up the SATA drive upon installation...are there any boot disks/driver disks that will allow me to install RedHat 9 on this drive?!?! There has been some discussion about other SATA issues but I can't seem to find a solution to my problem...HELP!! Share this post Link to post

thibalex 0 Posted July 15, 2003 Hiya... I found out a solution (more info at http://www.linuxhardware.org/Features/03/04/16/1610236.shtml) Summary: in the BIOS, you must set a "compatibility IDE mode" instead of "Enchanced". If I understood well, the Kernel which comes with the ISO don't recognize S-ATA drivers. Maybe a more up-to-date kernel does, but I couldn't try it (I have some problems with my network card, couldn't update my kernel). Share this post Link to post
Tekchip 0 Posted July 16, 2003 I dont know where you guys have been or if you just didnt search the forums before posting but there was a previous thread discussing the 3112 under linux. Here's the link to that thread. http://www.linuxcompatible.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=508 Bottom line is that for 2.4.x to even see the drive you need a kernel patch that is linked to in that thread and Raid is only supported in unstable 2.5.x and the soon to be stable 2.6.x. Go read up. Share this post Link to post
