miku 0 Posted February 1, 2001 Hi, I was just reading on Via Tech that whistler 2419 supports ide busmaster drivers for via out of box. Now my question is that. I never installed any ide busmaster drivers from via. I only installed via agp 404. My computer works perfeclty and there is nothing wrong in Device Manager settings. The Primary HD is working in Ultra DMA Mode. Now do I need those drivers. Will they make the performance better. How can I check if I need thos drivers? ARC Share this post Link to post
chameleon 0 Posted February 2, 2001 what type of mobo do you have? those drivers can greatly increase your hdd score, benchmark your drive with HD tach and see what you get.. then download the 3.11 busmaster drivers from www.viahardware.com and install them then try the hdd again. ------------------ win2kbox.cjb.net Abit KT7A-R,Duron650@910,128PC150,DeskStar 20gb, GeForce2GTS,SBLive X-gamer, Acer 10x8x32, Whistler Share this post Link to post
PsychoSword 0 Posted February 3, 2001 They are superior drivers to the older ones as far as benchmarking, but they have an issue with them where they may cause your CDROM or CDRW device to be detected as a SCSI device and quit functioning. It's not a big deal since if you have this problem you can simply uninstall and reinstall the old drivers, but just so you're forwarned. Share this post Link to post
