Dredd 0 Posted February 6, 2001 I am thinking of building a new system to replace my old Slot1 based P3 500. I am not sure if I should go with the KT133A chipset or if I should go with i815 chipset. I was really looking into getting a new 1Ghz T-Bird but wanted to have some feedback on what board to get and stability is key here. I am not a big overclocker so stabiltiy is key to me but with plenty of options. I was thinking of Abit's KT7A-RAID. Please post feedback so I know where to go. Thanks, ------------------ Dredd Webmaster of DreddNews http://www.dreddnews.com Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted February 7, 2001 If you go with the T-Bird, make sure you get some good cooling, cuz right now AMD's chips dont have some diode or some heat sensor on the chip to tell if its getting too hot. What it comes down to with KT133A boards is if you need an AMR slot or not. Abit doesn't have one on theirs but the Asus A7V133 does. These two are the only ones that you want if your going for the best performance...unless you gotta have DDR. You should be able to use your memory with the T-Bird with no problems. Unless you want to go with an SMP system you probably want to dump your P3. I think Intel has better made chips, but on a clock for clock basis AMD is thumping Intel over the head. Unless your worried about heat or want SMP systems, go with AMD. Nothings wrong with Intel, but the chips just arent as speedy or cheap as AMD. Share this post Link to post
