Setting up a UDMA-66 HD on a BE6 rev 1.01 mobo, going to ins

Recommended Posts

I have the needed udma-66 cable but I see that there are win2k drivers for udma-66 on abits website. Do I need those? If so it seems the download links for everything at abits site lead nowhere. any ideas?

www.highpoint-tech.com

Download the drivers there. Put them on a disk, not in any sub folders. When you start Win2k setup press F6 to install third party SCSI or RAID drivers(you will see a notice at bottom of screen). Specify the drivers twice.

It's the HPT366 drivers that you need, I believe.

Copy this in Notepad and name it ATA66.reg:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E96A-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000]

"EnableUDMA66"=dword:00000001

Windows 2000 installs with Ata66 deactivated by default. This will insert proper Dword for activation.

Check if you brand name drive Website if a program is provided to activate your hard disk to Ata66.

Of course choose the proper controller that holds your hard disk: 0000 or 0001 etc.

Don't worry about activiating stuff, as it is/should be alreayd activated. Simply goto www.highpoint-tech.com and download the win2k Drivers for the HPT366. It will work if you install those drivers, trust me. I have the same mobo.

Is there a utility that i can get anywhere to test how fast your hard drive is running?

I have 4 ata 66 drives in my machine and i'd like to make sure the ones that are on the 66 controller are working right.
