Minneapolis, MN - Veiled Games, seasoned veterans of the iPhone App Store market, today is excited to announce the start of their newest, revolutionary ad campaign. Designed to promote and build excitement around "Outnumbered," their upcoming 3D, multiplayer, survival title for the iPhone and iPod Touch, the centerpiece of this campaign is an innovative and untested new technique: An actually halfway kind of watchable Gameplay Trailer. Common practice in the high stakes world of iPhone app marketing is for the developer's cousin to quickly snap their point and click camera into video mode, and take a quick one take movie of the developers hands grasping onto the iPhone for dear life. iPhone marketing industry standards have developed, and today's modern iPhone gameplay video counts on certain hallmarks: the wobbly, out of focus video of the iPhone screen; the gravelly, out of breath voice of the developer, who sounds like he has a slight Ukrainian accent, even though he's from Iowa; the sound cord dangling off the side of the iPhone connected to a pair of cheap computer speakers. Veiled Games, for Outnumbered, has decided to try something new. Their new trailer video is in 720p and features 24, hyper-realistic 3D iPhones, displaying scenes from the game, swarming around a dancing storm cloud, painted against a backdrop of a swirling electrical inferno. Over 600k polygons, 4 gigabytes of raw gameplay footage, and 300 million particles went into the production of the video. "We took a look at what has worked for us in the past, and threw it all away," said president and founder Evan McMahon. "Our previous hit "Up There" was a commercial and critical success, and at the center of it's successful ad campaign was a traditional iPhone gameplay video. It was shaky, out of focus, poorly lit, and pretty unwatchable. We even did it in one take at 4 am on a Wednesday. Outnumbered is such an exciting new game though, we knew we needed to try something different, something unexplored." The idea first came to Veiled Games as they were putting the final touches on their newly relaunched site, www.VeiledGames.com. "Our old site was just awful, and the new one felt really good," said lead developer and co-founder Jeff Wright, "and the crazy idea came up to take the same principles of good instead of awful, and apply it to the gameplay trailer. I don't know if there's a market for decent iPhone gameplay trailers, but if there is, we certainly made a good one." Outnumbered is a highly polished, action packed competitive game, in which two player's battle to survive and destroy in a robotic arena. Veiled Games is betting that the high-quality trailer, which matches the meticulous production values of the game itself, will speak to their potential customers, even if it is unsettling at first to see an iPhone gameplay trailer that doesn't make their eyes bleed. In a nod to normalcy however, Veiled Games has insisted that they fully expect the app store customer reviews to be as poorly spelled and unhelpful as always.
