I downloaded and gave a try to DirectX 8 beta last night.

Seems to run OK.

I only tested it with UT, FogCity benchmark, a few D3D gadget-progs and DXDiag.

No prob whatsoever

I have been usin DX8 for ages, its Absolutely fine for me!

=) (not that i have noticed any speed increase/quality improvements anyways)
