piXelman 0 Posted July 7, 2000 Why do www.fighters.net and www.ntcompatible.com have the same IP? I have some friends who cannot access NT Compatible because of this... they get an error. If they enter the IP as the site, it pulls up the fighters one, and not NT compatible... wassup? Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted July 7, 2000 Because they are on the same server.... I don't know what kind of servers the Gamefan network runs, but in IIS, this is very easy to do using headers. If you don't send a header, like when you enter the ip directly, then it will go to the default web page. In this case the default would appear to be fighters.net Why are your friends trying to get to it by the ip? Share this post Link to post
piXelman 0 Posted July 8, 2000 because when they enter www.ntcompatible.com -- it brings up nothing... says it cant be found, so he tried it with the IP... and no luck. Share this post Link to post
DeadCats 0 Posted July 8, 2000 I'd almost bet they're using some sort of "Speed up the Internet" program that uses IP addresses only. ------------------ "Being married to a programmer is like owning a cat: You talk to it but you're never really sure if it hears you, much less comprehends what you say." piXelman 0 Posted July 8, 2000 No, they are using a default MindSpring dial-up account, nothing else... I checked it out myself. Share this post Link to post
CM 1 Posted July 9, 2000 Many virtual webspace accounts have no own IP address. Share this post Link to post
