HIS Radeon HD 5670 IceQ 512MB and ASUS EAH5670 1GB video card review @ Elite Bastards

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Following the launch of AMD's low cost Radeon HD 5670 part a couple of weeks ago, we now have the opportunity to take a look at another pair of graphics boards which make use of this SKU. On the one hand we have ASUS' EAH5670 1GB, complete with a "dust-proof" cooling solution, while on the other we have a 512MB variant of the Radeon HD 5670 courtesy of HIS' new IceQ part. How do they both stack up for someone looking to join the DirectX 11 revolution without breaking the bank, and how do the 512MB and 1GB variants of this board compare in performance terms?

"While the board layout follows AMD's reference design completely, sporting no additional power connector but support for a CrossFire configuration via the usual multi-GPU connectors, ASUS have chosen to go down their own route when it comes to offering a cooling solution for the board. While the EAH5670's cooler can't quite be considered a single slot solution, it is a relatively low-profile one, which ASUS claims to be "dust-proof", thus elongating the board's lifespan by as much as 25%. While we can't really test those claims, the cooler's design should at least reduce the build-up of dust somewhat, which could be good news if your system tends to suffer from such "ailments"."
