Theres a benchmarking program called 3DMark2000, and thats what we're referring to. I believe that http://www.the-ctrl-alt-del.com has it available to download. The company that makes it is putting out 3DMark2001, but that requires a bit more muscle to push around. So you'd get some humiliating scores.

The higher the better.

If you saw Inferno2000's score, you will drool.

I'll be upgrading my case pretty soon.

Here's what I have now

http://www.geocities.com/reaper_computer_systems/NEoutside.jpg

I'll be getting an Addtronics W8500(or an 8600 if I can so it'll have the locking door on the bezel).

Still, my 1.1 is hitting 1.5 ghz, but it's too damned hot for me to feel comfortable keeping it there.

maybe when I get the addtronics, I'll spring for a peltier and watercooling.

O'kay, 3DMark2000, standard tests, detonator 7.52 drivers running on 2K, I get 6003. With 3DMark2001, I get around 2500 - I forget what exactly.

Brian Frank, you mentioned about NAV and ZoneAlarm being installed, does that effect the scores? I have both running all the time too, as well as a few other things.

Well, Cynan, looking at your specs, you probably dont have to worry, having a dual cpu setup. Norton does take some resources to run, and I ususally turn it off, but I leave ZA on. Im beginning to think that thats as big of a problem as I first thought, because my dad has a slightly slower pc than mine except he's got 2 7200RPM hard drives, and Im not sure if that contributes to his slight performance gain over mine. I really shouldnt worry, eventually the way nVidia's drivers are going, I should overtake him even with his 5.12 detonators. The best performance for me is 10.80. I'll snag the latest and greatest drivers as long as they dont have problems.

on your duron that is oclocked? I got 2261 on my old p3 500 with win xp. You should try tweaking some services and other stuff on your sys cause it should go higher than that.

Pimpin228, get Xteq X-Setup. Loads of tweaks, hidden features, also you can enable overclocking GF2's w/o extra programs. Works on a GF2 MX. 10.80 Det. right here.

My PIII 667 with only PC100 running at 100MHz (performance hit right there) 192MB of it, and a Voodoo 3 3000 AGP can hit 2100's just by tweaking, and its under Win2k.

My score on ME is closer to 3000's,

but my main rig as it stands now has hit 4621, see sig line: (for the zillionth time in this post)

Hey..from now on, we need to specify what version of 3dmark we're using.

a 3000 in 2001 is really good

a 3000 in 2000 is really not as good.

i think the duron has a lot of potential and great performance for the price, if i wasn't such a die-hard Intel fan, i'd switch from a Celemine to a Duron.

Duron vs. Celeron?

Duron all the way!

Normally I'd say bad things about VIA, but I haven't had problems with the KT133(a) and nvidia cards.

But those problems were only experienced(by me) on the KX133....my KT system works perfectly...

Durons: cheap, fast, and overclockable.

Celerons: slower, not so fast, and overclockable.

Durons rule. ~90% of the Athlon performance and at insanely low prices to boot. Kinda like the GF2 MX. I love overclocking.

I'll stick with the PIII's in my PIII system and Durons in my Duron system. T-Birds are just a little too toasty for my comfort. Not saying i wouldnt go to the 1.2 GHz T-Bird, but Im not ready for that one yet.
