Yeah, same deal here w Best Buy. I go to one of the several comp shops to get it though, plus BB doesnt really have a good selection of mobo's, if they're in stock. Ive bought a few video card there though and some 80mm Antec fans, before they doubled the price .

I guess its pretty good in the town I live in.

 

Things we have quite a few of besides comp stores: churches and strip bars, lol. There must be too many desperate people here lol.

It's holding up pretty good but i think the cd rom is bout to die so i think i am gonna get a new pne soon,and along with an amd athlon 1.3,ibm deskstar 60 gig. and another stick of 256 but those are furture plans but i have problem with it now, when i go through w2k

and shut it down whenever i turn it back on i get a blank screen but then i unplug it and plug it back in and turn it on it works. anyone

Oh, yeah...all the Memorex CD-ROM drives I've seen or had have croaked at some point. Mine probably didn't last more than 6 months. I'll never buy a cd-rom drive or cd-player from them again. Memorex is crap in these lines. I have 2 Toshiba DVD-ROMs and they have run flawlessly, plus other products they put out are very high quality. I would recommend getting a CD-ROM drive from them, since I have yet to experience a bad product from them.

yea you can over clock a modem if it has a rockwell chipset and it has to be 33.6 or 28.8 i think, but i have a new problem on my hands.

earlier today i tried to over clock my cpu to see how high i could get it to go and i had to clear the cmos and now the mobo only picks up the primary master, does anyone have any suggestions, but i got it to go to 968 and after that icouldn't go anymore but some one please help me

Watch your chips with those ORBs Brian, a lot of ppl say that its really easy to crush the die. I haven't had any such problems myself though.. I really love that "twist & lock" mechanism on them.

I haven't had a problem with em. I've heard the Durons and Athlons have a bigger risk of crushing the die. The Durons especially are problematic with getting the die crushed. If I'm worried, I saw a little tip about making pads for the P3/Celermine out of electrical tape. The biggest issue with the orbs is having enough space around the socket for them. I may file down the orbs on the side a little as they're really close to a capacitor or two.

 

Pimpin, try setting the drives to auto, if you haven't done so already.

Also, let it sit for a while and do something else, before you start going nuts. Shut it down and leave it be sometimes fixes things, I have no clue why though.

They fit fine on the VP6. Dang they look good. heh. I've actually been thinking I'll replace them with something "supposidly" better.. I'm getting around 46C atm at full load, and when it was really hot that weekend, 49C.

 

I am about to fit another case fan though, that might bring it down a bit.

its not overclocking a modem, and no you can't btw. its called upgrading a modem, the modem i gave you cody has already been upgraded from 33.6 to 56k.

I'm still waiting for the 2nd damn cpu to come in!

The store I'm getting from finally got it in, but the stupid morons where they shipped it from totally screwed up the entire shipment of parts they sent, and my cpu was a slot 1. Obviously, a s370 duallie board will not be using that one, so it got sent back.

That company hasn't done too good of a job at keeping us informed, so the store ordered another cpu from a different company.

If I'd know the bullsh!t I'd be going through, I might have just bought two new cpu's, but I thought that companies would let their employees know the difference between a socket cpu and a slot.

Well guys, I'm back to using my old P3 667, the guy next door finally bought my P3 1GHz for $250 USD. I built my Dad a computer from parts lying around and I'm getting ready to build my girlfriend a computer so I removed 2 sticks of 256 from my computer (gotta buy a stick of 512 anyway), so now i got 256MB RAM.
