battle of the computers

Recommended Posts

Well killed the p4 by messing up the heat spreader removal, and i was having a nightmare trying to get a new 1. I couldnt find anywere that had the 1.9ghz in stock and did next day delivery so i eventually had to cancel my first order for a 1.9 (which would have taken about a week!) and order a 2ghz instead that will arrive tomorrow. Wonder what a 2ghz will clock to, the 1.7 was able to run on a 125mhz bus, but i doubt the 2ghz will manage that frown Is that about the limit of the Willamette p4?

Not necessarily. It's just the top that Intel is gonna release it as. However, I think it may not be the greatest OC'r available, but you can always see about that.;)

Pimpin, maybe your overclocking is causing the lockup ? smile That temp isnt gonna cause an lockup, its fine. Try and get a program called prime95, just do a search for it, it has a torture test mode and finds even the smallest instability. If it can survive 30mins-1hour of that then its stable and the problem is elsewere.

Well i hate to say this but that temp was after i put the cpu back at stock speed. so for somereason this cpu runs realy really hot.but that temp must have been higher when it was overclocked so i need to find a better cooler

I suggest the Vantec CCK-6027D. Copper cooler and just using cheap goop packaged with the cooler, I run 51*C under load @ 1.53GHz and 1.85Volts.

While your temps are pretty warm, if that's the load, you should be doin' pretty good.

Vantec is good smile i got the swiftech mcx-478 in the end and it does an amazing job but it quite expensive frown

I did look into water but decided it was more trouble that it was worth, knowing me i would probably kill my whole PC 8)

Well, I've done some major overclocking on that GF3: 250MHz core, 571MHz ram so far! I have surpassed the Ti500 stock speeds and then some. I'm also RMAing a drive for my dad, which I get to keep once it comes back:D.

We've had a lot of different hdd's and so far the best ones we've had have been Western Digital. I don't know if we got a bad batch of Maxtor's or what, but this is #3 in RMA from home. Oh well, maxtor is good about RMAing stuff to ya.
