OK, here's the details on my new Pimp Daddy Gaming Rig:

Motherboard

I had to go with this one because the A8N32-SLI Deluxe is not yet available wink

Graphics Cards

Pre-Tested and OC'd cards with the infamouse dust buster coolers wink

Memory

Kingston HyperX Dual-Channel Kit, 1GB, PC3500 smile

Power Supply

I need the extra power and connectors for this monster as well wink

Hard Drives

Hard Drives

So I'm getting a pair for Windows XP Pro (32-bit) for the main gaming OS. Then I'm going to dual-boot with Windows XP (64-bit) to test things out. I do beleive that Far Cry has a 64-bit patch already for their game and others will follow too wink

Chassis

I tried to recycle a Thermaltake chassis, the issue was the damn HD cage configuration. It blocked the graphic cards from being installed, DOH!!!

CPU laugh

The AMD Athlon 64-X2 4800+.

Heres a PC i just put together for a friend here at college. He asked what i could build him for under 250 bucks and i laughed. but was surprised when i finished it, so here are some rough specs.

Intel 845GV micro ATX mobo

Intel Celeron 2.8ghz

160GB Western Digitial 7200rpm HDD

GeForce MX4000 128mb PCI Video Card

1024MB Ultra memory

Lite-On 52x CD-RW

Crappy old cdrom drive i had layin around

Ultra 300watt PSU

Onboard audio

built in a mid-tower acrylic case i built a few years ago.

lots of blue and red cold cathodes and led fans inside (he wanted it to look cooler than it is fast 8))

not bad for under 270 bucks. at least i was proud.

Just to add a wee bit of nostalgia, currently on:

DFI CA-64 TN

512MB RAM

Tualatin 1.26ghz(unlocked, actually 866mhz) @1.35

eVGA 6600GT AGP @583/1130

80gig WD Caviar

Plays FarCry with everything set to medium, a few options turned up to high.

NFSU1 all at high, crowds off, cause that's just BS.

FC gets me 28FPS average. NFSU gets 34FPS average.

I don't try to play a lot of newer games on this system, it's the kids' system, my new system comes at tax time, I'll post the specs when I get it.

In the mean time, this wee old beastie rocks, I'm still lokking for a dualie socket 370 mobo with an AGP slot, I have a matched pair of these unlocked 1.26 Tualatins, I'd love to set them both up on dualie board and see how they perform. smile

BTW, HL2, eyecandy cranked, 1024X768, averages 42FPS.

Damn, tax time is gonna be so sweet. laugh

Pentium Core 2 Duo Wolfdale 3.0ghz - works flawlessly (obviously).

Asus P5Q Mainboard - works great, except the onboard ethernet chip requires a little configuring to get going.

EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB - Works flawlessly using EnvyNG to install the proprietary driver.

Western Digital Caviar SE 250GB SATA drive - Works great, but does require SATA mode to be set to ACHI in the BIOS (as will all SATA drives if I'm not mistaken).

4gb OCZ DDR800 ram (2x2gb) in dual channel mode - works flawlessly.
