Well, the Epox is in. Had to up the memory voltage before WinXP would stop giving me a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT BSOD. I also found out the HTP372 controller doesn't like my rounded cables...

Yeah, the Northwood is a nice overclocker. I know some dude that's trying to hit 2.6 with his 1.6A, and he might do it too with his H2O setup.

I found out something: shims suck! I had one on my T-bird and it was preventing me from using anything but the default multiplier. That sucked!

I don't have a huge heatsink anyway, so the shim is kinda pointless and I haven't killed a core yet.

Criminy! My 8K3A+ died, and I'm sending back for a full refund from Newegg. On the upside, I got an Abit NV7-133R to replace it. This mutha is loaded, and could probably change my stance on Abit. So far (and it hasn't been long) it's given me no problems. On a side note, this is the first non-Via chipset motherboard I've used in one of my personal machines for at least 2 years (440BX last non-Via one for me).

At idle - 28C

Full Hard @ss Load - 40C

I maxed the cpu out at 100% for 5 hours, and the temp

never went over 40C

Of course that depends on if my AC is running or not. :-)

I've seen it idle at 26C

and be at full load running at 35C

Just depends on ambient room temp for me.

Mine is not overclocked. Standard CPU

ONly an Athlon would need a Delta fan.

No thanks,I hear enough helicopters in the morning, here.

The only reason I have one is because that's what came with my HS.

I've been looking at quiter ones, that produce the same amount of air flow. Any suggestions?

I had the swiftech heatsink with a delts fan, and I changed to a CAK 38 with a smaller fan, tho it was 5k rpm, was a bit quieter thok, and used a lot less room.

Well, it's time to repost one of my systems.

Scorpio

-Abit NV7-133R

-Athlon T-Bird 1.4GHz @ stock

-512MB PC2100 DDR

-Gainward GeForce 3 @ 250/571

-Maxtor 20GB ATA100 7200RPM

-Maxtor 40GB ATA100 5400RPM

-Toshiba 12x DVD

-Samsung 48x CD

-Mitsumi floppy drive

-2 port Lucent IEEE1394 PCI card

-Sparkle 350 W PSU

-Vantec CCK-6027D HSF

-Super Case full tower

I cannot believe how many PCI slots I'm not using. Currently, I only have a firewire card for this thing. I'm probably not going to do much, if any, overclocking, especially since the options on this board are quite anemic at best. I'm not going very far with a max Vcore of 1.8 volts--and yes, this is an Abit board. On the upside, the integrated stuff rocks! USB 2.0, HighPoint ATA133 RAID, 5.1 ch sound, integrated LAN. I'm liking the NForce, which IMO, is possibly the best integrated chipset yet.
