The Verdict:

A very refined all-around digicam that forever will change your opinion of what you can achieve with "set and forget" point and shoots. The iAUTO intelligent automatic shooting function really works well, and no other compact camera is as successful as the TX1 at snagging keeper pictures in all lighting conditions. Sony finally gets the touchscreen UI right, and throws in iPhone-like gestures for good measure. A beautiful addition to your daily life that's slim and light enough to go unnoticed in your back pocket or purse. Only poor battery life and occassionally odd color renditions keep the Sony DSC-TX1 from being a grand slam home run.

 

The Good:

+ Classic Sony T-series styling

+ Unbelievably thin and light

+ Good build quality

+ Very good intelligent auto mode

+ Amazing ability to avoid flash in iAUTO mode

+ 720p HD video

 

The Bad:

- A few cheap bits (zoom rocker switch)

- Poor battery life

- Oversaturated colors

- Heavy noise processing

- No HDMI interface or cable included in box

- Not that cheap
