Ultrashock 0 Posted January 11, 2000 Ok, I've read everything there is to read in this Message Forum about Unreal Tournament.. Everyone seems to have it all working great. But not me. I've got a Pentium III 500Mhz, and a Viper V770 Ultra. Most of my games work.. except Sim Theme Park, Supreme Snowboarding, The Next Tetris, Tonic Trouble, TrickStyle, Tzar, and Unreal Tournament... Some of them aren't crashes, some of them are. Unreal Tournament I would really like to get working. It gives this: SafeDisc: UnrealTournament.exe - Application Error The exception Privileged instruction. (0xc0000096) occured in the application at location 0x0040aae4. Now, I've reinstalled win2000 from scratch twice, and I've installed/uninstalled unreal numerous times, 3 times from a clean installation.. Anyone please gimme some clues Share this post Link to post
Greggy 0 Posted January 11, 2000 More information please. What build of Win2K are you using? What video drivers are you using? What sound card etc are you using? Does UT work in 'safe mode' etc? Share this post Link to post
dang 0 Posted January 11, 2000 Well, any of the tnt2 drivers released so far have yet to enable agp, so effectively the tnt2 is running in pci mode meaning no extra memory for textures. I think that this is part of the problem. Some games want to go off the card for ram and this is causing the crash. This is all speculation at this point. I think that the agp enabled drivers from nVidia will help these problems. At least I hope they will. I'm having the same problems. dang Share this post Link to post
Ultrashock 0 Posted January 12, 2000 I would like to thank everyone who replied... and who emailed me about the problem. It seems that it was neither windows 2000 or my drivers... Well, as far as I know it was UT itself. I installed the 402 patch, and everything works great now. As a matter of fact, I find the graphics performance to be somewhat faster than on win9x... Anyhow, no luck on the other games, but UT works now. Share this post Link to post
