Q3 + 2195 + Smp + 3.69 nvidia drivers still don't work!

Recommended Posts

IS it just me and my computer or do the new nvidia drivers STILL don't handle quake3 in SMP??? I don't understand what is the problem here.. when you make drivers don't you BUILD off the older builds? What is with 1 build working.. and then the next one not? Or having to load this build and take 1 file out of another build for the damn thing to work! I sure wish nvidia would get it's A$$ in gear and put out some drivers that ADDRESS the damn problem!

So here is my question. At one time I had Quake 3 working in smp. But with reloading and messing around I can't remember what drivers they were... 3.53? 3.64 with 3.52 dll? who knows! Anyway tell me what you are using so I can get this damn thing working.

Now I have heard smp don't work with sblive cards... but I remember it working.

My system.

Abit bp6

2x celeron 400's oc to 624

Hercules tnt2 ultra

128 mb ram

Sblive

Thanks!

I don't really have an answer for you yet, but I am investigating and experimenting with the various nVidia drivers.

And just a note, nVidia seems to be one of the best for at least working on their drivers and releasing them as fast as they can. Most companies are letting us sit with the 2k reference until win2k is out officially.

The whole idea behind beta drivers is to test them and fix what is wrong, so send them your bug report and help get them fixed.

I hope to see what is going on with the drivers this weekend. Maybe a fix for your system can be found.

Hi Asidie,

I have been running Quake 3 on my SMP system using Geforce DDR (Nvidia 3.69 reference driver). So far no problem except there is a performance hit compared to Windows 98 (Not enough RAM?).

Windows 2000 (2195)

128 Mb SDRAM,

Epox KP6BS

2x Celeron 300A@450 Mhz

Geforce DDR

S3 Sonic sound card.

Well, for my case, my problem was a different one. Sometimes my Windows 2000 can load 3D application, sometimes it just hang with a mouse pointer and a black screen. I have no fix for it, but it just occur very randomly. Any help would be very much appreciated.

I am having the same problem. Q3 was working for a few weeks, now it won't. I am running Win2K on a dual processor Tyan board, I have a 16MB TNT card and SBLive.

I get an error message now on Q3 startup that there is some sort of mode problem. I am chasing various threads.
