StuAllsopp 0 Posted February 8, 2000 UT runs fine for me on 2183 (yes I know I should update) But when I play net games it's unplayable. At first I thought it was my connection but I shut down to 98 and it was fine. The game is totally lagged. even with sub200 pings. Jerky as hell too. 2 Friends of mine both run2k and are fine so it isn't win2k but my setup. any suggestions? Stu Share this post Link to post
Jerry - 0 Posted February 8, 2000 What is your setup, what's your modem? are you running the warez version of the game? Help us out Share this post Link to post
StuAllsopp 0 Posted February 8, 2000 Ok. Well the first thing i'd say is that it's the same setup as 98 so it's a 2k problem.. Build 2183 PII-350. creative labs banshee. scsi everywhere (main boot drive) 56k internal rockwell v90 flashed. Also tried on an external 3com v90 with the same result. Shop copy. (how anyone can warez such a top game.. they need shooting;-) 3com 905tx-b network card in this and second machine. All unnecessary tasks are killed when I play just to make sure. A friend of mine mentioned that in sp6 for NT4 there was a "feature" that held packets until they reached a certain size and then were sent. Same problem? Any other information required? SandMaN 0 Posted February 9, 2000 Try this out, I found it here posted by someone else. It really helps load-time and game performance: 1) Goto UT System sub-dir and open up the UnrealTournament.ini. 2) Under find the entry LocalMap=CityIntro.unr and change it to LocalMap=UT-Logo-Map.unr UT will not load the City fly-by scene at startup now, and will startup a LOT quicker. 3) Under [Engine.GameEngine] find the entry CacheSizeMegs=4 and change it to like 75% of your RAM. Ex. 128MB RAM - CacheSizeMegs=96 Share this post Link to post
riz 0 Posted February 10, 2000 just wondering, does the warez version of the game work slower in multiplayer than the original? riz Share this post Link to post
DosFreak 2 Posted February 11, 2000 uhhh...Why would it??? Unless you haven't updated it with the latest patch of course. Share this post Link to post
StuAllsopp 0 Posted February 11, 2000 So noone has any ideas why it runs so bad in multi player in win2k for me? In win2k single player is fine and in win98 its fine single and multi but in win2k on multi it is unplayable. I thought at first it was bad pings but I get sub200 pings which in 98 is playable. If I fire a rocket it fires about 3-4 secs later! If I am running in a straight line and fire a rocket off, I will get blown up by the rocket I fired, slamming into my back! Any ideas?
