T-BoNe 0 Posted February 16, 2000 I have serious problems getting any IPX LAN games to work with win2k and 98 se machines. The games I've tried so far are Diablo and C&C Tiberian Sun. I set the frame type to 802.3 on the win2k machine to match the rest of mt workgroup and I can "see" other players in network lobby's but if I start a game or try to join a game the win2k player vanishes. Any ideas? BTW I'm 1 step from upgrading all my LAN to win2k. Anyone have success with IPX on a full win2k workgroup? Share this post Link to post
felix 0 Posted February 17, 2000 Is "TCP/IP Retard" a hybrid of Microsoft's TCP/IP protocol? I haven't heard of it. What if the games he wants to play only use IPX/SPX eg Dark Reign, Starcraft (LAN not 'net) there are others but I'm too busy trying to find information on "TCP/IP Retard" to remember them. ------------------ ------------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it. Share this post Link to post

T-BoNe 0 Posted February 17, 2000 Hmmmm. Think before you speak is probably a good rule for message boards. IPX is the only availible protocol for Diablo and Tiberian Sun on a LAN. I appreciate the support of intelligent members. Others can just stop posting insults or get reported and lose posting rights. Share this post Link to post
YuppieScum 0 Posted February 17, 2000 Think before you speak is probably a good rule for message boards. Nah - that takes the fun out of it. Posting while drunk if even better. Anyway, set the frame type to "autodetect" - different IPX apps use different frame types. In the old (Win3.1) days we to configure for several kinds of frame to support things like Lotus Notes... Also, isn't there a TCP/IP patch for either of these titles? IPX/SPX itself is a bastardised version of TCP/IP, and even Novell regard it as a legacy protocol. ------------------ SuperMicro P6DBS (dual UW-SCSI) BIOS 2.2, 2*Celery 300a @ 450Mhz, 384MB PC100 RAM SCSI-A=4.3Gb+9Gb, SCSI-B=Tosh32x CD-ROM, Yamaha4416 CD-RW, Iomega ZIP100, IDE1=4.3Gb IBM EtherJet 10/100 NIC PCI + Nortel ADSL "modem" Matrox G400 DH 32Mb AGP + Quantum3D Voodoo2 SLI PCI (CL TNT1 AGP on a shelf) SoundBlaster Live PCI (not Value) Win2K build 2195 Retail (not 120-day eval) Share this post Link to post
