latkey 0 Posted March 3, 2000 So, I've been trying to figure this out for more than 2 months now and finally Raven figured out a solution. The problem lies with the user account you are using and it's type. Any administrator account will cause problems with the SoF demo and most nvidia driver versions, including the recent release candidate. Other OpenGL games do not seem affected by this. I know this sounds pretty flaky, but it's the truth. Ever since the demo was released it either crashed, errored out or ran unplayably slow on my machine. As soon as I changed my account from Administrator to 'power user', it ran perfectly. I don't know if the demo or the drivers are the problem, and nothing has been said about new versions of either to fix this. Share this post Link to post
Mike V 0 Posted March 5, 2000 That's weird. My account was Administrator from the start, and I installed the SOF demo and the patch. It always ran fine, and it's damn fast. It even played online and it was pretty good. I am using the 3.78 Nvidia drivers with a Geforce. Mike Share this post Link to post
CycloneFr 0 Posted March 6, 2000 I can't play this game in Win2k! Even w/ a Fresh Installation w/ the 3.78 Nvidia's drivers... When i launch it, it says: Couldn't Find OpenGL Environnement... It works fine in Win98 and all my others ogl games work very good in Win2k Share this post Link to post
Aegeas 0 Posted March 7, 2000 Let's see here...I had the same problem wiht the SOF demo. Installs fine but runs incredibly slow. I mean swapping out to the drive like it wsa trying to move half a gig of textures. This thing crawled on my dual pent 550, ultra2 scsi, SGRAM geforce system. I am guessing it must be a driver issue. Perhaps not fully utilizing the 32 mb of ram on the cards. Share this post Link to post
