Will Games Overwrite?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering, I have Quake 3 Arena installed in 98, I want to install Q3a in 2000 in the same directory as my q3a folder in win98? Or does it overwrite it? This is a dual boot btw.

Of course it's going to overwrite the frst install. For somethign like quake, back up the files in baseq (I think) folder, then install it. Replace the original files, then you should have all the game stats and settings no matter what OS

Hi everybody!

I just wondered if it is mandatory to re-install Quake3A over an Win98 installation to get smooth operation under Win2k (I have intermittent lockups in SMP mode when switching resolutions or changing texture settings from within the game menu). I only created a shortcut on my Win2K desktop pointing to the exe installed previously under Win98. Does Q3A need stuff written at installation time in the registry to work properly?

Hi,

At least on my computer Q3 works just fine if I install the game in win98 and then use that exe to run the game in win2k.
