Mangan 0 Posted March 27, 2000 How much extra fps could one expect with r_smp 1 in Q3 Arena? I use BP6 2 celeron 533@576 GeForce DDR with detonator 3.81. My fps: r_smp 0: 106 fps. r_smp 1: 115 fps. Share this post Link to post
EM 0 Posted March 27, 2000 Seems about right. Depends on your resolution and detail levels. Mine seems to only go up by about 5 fps. TNT2 non-ultra. Share this post Link to post
Tbb 0 Posted March 27, 2000 Under nt4 I gained about 10-20 fps depending on the graphic settings. Are you running under w2k??? I can't get my q3 to run with smp=1 under w2k, and I have a tnt2 ultra Share this post Link to post
slkh 0 Posted March 27, 2000 Depends a lot on your resolution and depth of colour. I get approximately 42 fps for 1024x768 (trilinear + 32 bit colour) on my 2 x Cel300A@450 Mhz But experience random lockup more often. If I run on /r_smp 0, it rarely (can almost say never) lockup my system. -- My Configuration P6DGU, 2x Cel 300A@450 Geforce DDR 32 Mb 1024x768 32 bit colour Trilinear mode. Mangan 0 Posted March 27, 2000 Regarding Tbb:s query. I´m running win2k 2195 (Final) with r_smp 1. I used to run with r_smp 0 because of lockups, but the problem seems to be gone. Don´t know why. Mail for config. Share this post Link to post
Turbo Grunkamoj 0 Posted March 28, 2000 Hey, mangan. So you got it to work? Running fine in r_smp 1 now is it? Share this post Link to post
KODEN 0 Posted March 28, 2000 I've finally gotten r_smp to work by using the 3.81 drivers and overwriting the nvoglnt.dll with the one from the NT 4.0 5.06 drivers. A couple of hours of playing and no lockups. It gives me about 5 extra fps. ------------------ Config: Dual PII 450 on ASUS P2B-D 256 MB Ram TNT Aureal Vortex 2 Win2k 2195 Share this post Link to post
slkh 0 Posted March 28, 2000 Err. I would like to update my benchmark results again. I am very impressed by the latest Nvidia reference driver. It gives me 58.8 fps in /r_smp 0 mode. In /r_smp 1 mode, it gives me 59.6 fps. But it lockup my system several time before I can actually complete the whole benchmark. Windows 98 gives me 56 fps. My spec -- 1024x768 x 32 bit colour, Full detail, trilinear, Compression off, FSAA off. Dual Cel300@450 Mhz on P6DGU. Share this post Link to post
